Standards & Grace

Standards & Grace

Standards & Grace

As you set out intentionally

know fortune happens gradually,

and then all at once.

Like giving up.

The masters of their time

are also masters of heart –

For when it is relaxed

Vitality!

The purest, the softest, the toughest

are weaved together seamlessly.

Leaders maintain standards

while giving grace.

As Plato had Socrates,

Kareem had Wooden,

and Didion favored Hemingway.

The road ahead too uncertain

for a soul straight-jacked by ego.

Seek we must,

Learn we ought,

an adventurer’s weapon: a guide.

When the role is modeled

with ears unlocked

worry gives way to freedom.

To gaze upon, to open up,

young Spring rises from wise Fall.

The truth lies in a nation,

imagined.

Perceived vividly as to be felt,

an intuitive gut signs each agreement.

When on one’s mind

and written out alike…

loving waves of an ocean,

stoic stillness of a pond,

composure of a creek,

with certainty it comes to pass.

Calmness then confidence.

Is it attracted or is it chased?

Board the plane of imagery;

clear skies lie inside.

Good if thought,

Better when repeated,

Best once believed.

A vision is vague only if

chosen against a will.

The vibrant and transparent promise

produces a pleasant price to pay.

To lose what matters in distress

derives from a heart’s calling unanswered.

To win without a care

follows deep work within.

Surefooted dreamers deserve it all

when there are standards and there is grace.
